re-defining
roles

The postpartum period is filled with highs, lows, joys, challenges, and--above all else--adjustment. Roles change. Couples become families. Daughters and sons become Big Sisters and Big Brothers.

I provide support to help you meet what comes in the early weeks, strengthen your foundation, and keep realistic expectations about where you are and where you are headed.

While a new baby can bring joy, the changes can sometimes elevate anxiety, contribute to depression, and stress relationships. It can also feel just plain confusing. A postpartum doula is your touchstone, providing perspective, suggestions, and sensitive care.

monkey see, monkey do

Classes and books can provide helpful ideas; integrating the content is a different beast. Seeing your doula demonstrate how to soothe your baby to sleep can be a small but revelatory moment. Having help in positioning baby for a good latch can make sense out of a jumble of how-to books.

Breastfeeding support is one of my specialties. I am not a certified lactation consultant, yet I have become well-educated and experienced in the intricacies of breastfeeding.

I assist you in finding a parenting approach that works for you, and help connect you with local resources that will continue to nourish and support as you grow together.

growing & thriving

"I'm not sure what I need," is something I hear quite often. Particularly when you're in the thick of it, reaching out can be its own challenge. Postpartum doula support can be one time for just a few hours, or on-going for a number of weeks.

My role is to to be there when you need me, but also to make myself obsolete as soon as possible. Please call even if you're not sure what your needs are. One of my skills is helping you suss out what fits your situation

I help a family address the practicalities of the first days and weeks, and set themselves up for success. I believe support helps develop strong roots and solid ground for a growing family.
